If you’re like me, you were probably texting, IMing, eMailing, or [gasp] talking with a friend today and unless it was your clone, you probably didn’t agree on everything. It’s extremely rare that people agree on everything, but I think that’s what draws us to each other. Having someone around that agrees with everything I say is actually quite annoying. I like a challenge. I like to win arguments and animated discussions sometimes and sometimes I occasionally (and begrudgingly) like to lose.

Today’s POV is interesting, fun, engaging, and validating. The questions here are designed to get you thinking about all sorts of social topics. Everything from friends to lovers, to politicians to animal rights, to war to global warming. We ask tough questions; thought-provoking and controversial. We know that people agree and disagree, but more than that, everyone wants to be heard. This is just the place for that. Come join our network and be heard.

At Today’s POV we ask a question and tally the world’s responses. We cater to all age groups, all topics, all over the world. Questions run for 24 hours and are in a simple yes-or-no format. At the end of the day (GMT 0), we send the tallies to over 100 social media sites, to SmartPhones such as iPhone™ and BlackBerry®, to eMail addresses, to SMS-supporting devices, and as an RSS feed. Our goal is to reach everyone, everywhere.

You can participate by following, casting a secret ballot, becoming a voter, or enlisting as a reviewer.

As a follower, or to participate in the secret ballot, you don’t have to provide an information at all. Just drop by every now and then to check out the daily query or toss in your private vote. If you prefer, provide your eMail address or SMS text number and we’ll automatically send you the daily postings.

When you’re ready to share your opinion on the topic, register to vote with your eMail address, age group, gender, race, and martial status. This information enables us to map your response to the right population segment. Log in to vote or cast your ballot from your SmartPhone.

If you’re feeling really social, try out our version of 20 questions. We’ve provided you with a queue of more than 5,000 online questions (and more being added every day) on which you can record your opinion. Click the BM&Y (Between Me & You) button and we’ll send an invitation out to the friends’ names you provide so they can answer the same questions. As soon as the math is done, we’ll send you and your friend the list of questions you both answered and your match results. This is a really fun way to find out if your BFF is really just your BFFN.

If being a voter has simply whet your appetite for being heard, join as a reviewer and we’ll send you sponsored links to web sites or online products or services to which you may offer your opinion. More than just a posting of your vote, you can influence product and site development of well-known companies by answering five or fewer questions.

Today’s POV is a project of X-Ray Magazine, an online eZine published by my company, C Shaffstall & Son, LLC. Our content for this eZine is dedicated to the print and electronic content-creation industries. We cater to designers, web-page designers, desktop publishers, pre-press technicians, and output providers. We developed Today’s POV as a path to learning more about our readers. As the project grew, we realized that we could learn more about all sorts of people, even those outside our current subscribers — people just like you; and that with a little more effort, we could share that information in a social atmosphere.
